Changer
From Bellybuttonporn
Apparently your average McDonald's employee is either too stupid or too slow (or both) to count out the proper change for a customer in drive thru. So this device spits out the correct amount of change each time. It's kinda cool, except for the downsides:
- It doesn't give the best change. For example, if your change is $.25, it might give you two dimes and a nickel. wtf?
- It doesn't work at all if the wrong amount is input. So if the total is, say, $2.22 and the customer gives you $3.02. If you type in $3.00, it'll give you 78 cents change. Well, that's bad.
- If it is unplugged or turned off, it makes each transaction take about a second longer. Yes, it adds up. The POS tries signalling the changer before it opens the drawer. It waits about an extra second before giving up and opening the drawer anyhow.
- The little side piece where you get the change is awkward to use. I'd rather just get the change out of the drawer, thanks.
- Since no change comes out of the drawer it can get full of heavy change. So to alleviate that, the back bubble person takes the change cups out of the drawer and spends his or her time refilling the changer. That time could be better spent elsewise.
- It's easier to steal. A big pile of money not in a drawer? woohoo!
