So I went to a dentist after a long period of absense. It's not that I'm scared of the dentist or anything. I simply haven't had insurance a while. So I got some good news and some bad news.

Good news: My teeth and gums are in generally good shape. Startlingly good shape, considering it's been like 5 or so years since I went to a dentist.

Bad news: The one problem I knew about, a missing filling, has gotten so bad that I need a root canal. My insurance will cover 80% of it, and it'll cost somewhere between $800-$1200.

Really bad news: Most of the time, if you get a root canal, you have to get a crown. My insurance will not cover a crown until August 1st, and even then it'll cover it 50%. That leaves me with another half grand or so to cough up. Of course, if the Endodontist decides I need a crown now (as opposed to a huge filling which they might, in the best possible world, use), then I have to pay up immmediately. Do not pass go, do not eat candy ever again.

So this could put the whole "buying a car" thing back a couple months. We'll have to see.

In other recent news, my chili is still great. I have about half of it frozen, and i think I'll save that for some other time.

I'm nearly done with the big project for the Ag dept. Good thing, since we were supposed to start testing last week. Grumble Grumble. This makes me wonder about returning to school; if I can't do something as simple as this, how could I go back to school for 3 more years? I think I just need more time to unwind and have no homework for a while again.

My laptop is pretty bad now. It's having trouble charging the battery and keeping it charged. Also the video seems to be going out on it. I have backed it up and reinstalled windows in anticiation of taking it back to best buy for a warranty repair. Oh, and the DVD burner still doesn't burn DVDs.

Over the weekend I dinged 54 in WOW, and also spent about 70g buying mats to level my leatherworking up to 300. I rewarded myself with Green Dragonscale pants and Gauntlets. If I win the auction on the pattern for the breastplate, I'll have to make that for myself too. So anyhow, I've finally been able to make some armor that's substantially better than what I was wearing.

So that my laptop service doesn't interfere with WOW, or at least doesn't totally cripple me, I'm going to install it on my machine at work. Don't worry, I'm not doing anything verboten; a couple of the other guys have it installed there too. Obviously they don't play during working hours. On the plus side, my workstation blows the holy hell out of my laptop, and is on a big fat pipe. I'll be able to turn the detail all the way up, get no lag, and high fps.
